Creative projects coded by girls across Canada!

“I had very little experience coding and was absolutely terrified that I would be so lost while running this program. After doing the tutorial and then coding my About Me project I became much more confident. My personal highlight was sitting with a couple of my girls and being able to troubleshoot the problems they were having with their code. My confidence level with text based coding has skyrocketed because of the Hackathon Program.”

“I used this as enrichment for my students who showed an interest and also needed extra challenges throughout the year. It was great! I love that there was a consolidation of all that they had been working on in the coding club during the weeks and months ahead of the Hackathon. It brought friends together and the girls felt proud of the creations at the end. I also loved how they figured out how to explore graphic design to add their own touches to their work.”

Angela W. Grade 6 Teacher, ON

“This has been an amazing opportunity to get girls excited about coding and give them a chance to try something new. Our club had a really positive environment, and it was so great to see the girls helping each other and growing together.”

Faye S.
Middle School Teacher, Alberta

“I have more confidence in teaching coding but more importantly, seeing the excitement and leadership develop in girls who learn to code while problem-solving collaboratively is really such a joy to witness.”
