Content Writer

Job Type: Contract, Project-Basis

Hackergal is looking to recruit a Content Writer to support our marketing team! The Content Writer will work closely with our marketing team to research and develop engaging written content for Hackergal’s online community! The ideal candidate is a self-starter that meets deadlines in a fast-paced setting and is passionate about changing the technology landscape by closing the gender gap in Canada. Hackergal is quickly developing and we want your help to inspire the next generation of female developers!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research relevant topics related to technology and education combining a variety of sources including online, interviews, and studies
  • Produce well-researched content related to technology and education for publication  catered to Hackergal audiences
  • Utilize industry best practices and familiarity with Hackergal’s mission to inspire ideas and content
  • Proofread and edit content before publication
  • Coordinate with marketing and design teams to illustrate articles

Requirements:

  • Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Good understanding of the technology and education industry in Canada
  • Adherence to Hackergal’s brand style guide and content requirements 
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Experience doing research using multiple sources 
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience

Hackergal is a charitable organization introducing girls across Canada to computer science through various programming related to technology and primarily hackathons. Hackergal partners with the education system across Canada – working directly with educators, facilitators, and parents and providing them with the tools they need to expose girls to coding education in their schools, communities, and at home. Hackergal’s program is quickly developing as we champion the next generation of female developers and tech leaders.
